Another Monday More Miniatures

Today I want to focus on an aspect of the miniature market that is often over looked. Well, you can find plenty of examples of this, Hero Clix, but few artist seem to embrace genre. Super heroes! We’ll be going back to the old format, focusing on a theme rather than on specific people. For those of you who are comics fans you may feel that there aren’t a lot of options for your when it comes to minis, to an extent that would be true.

It's That Time Again: Miniature Monday

It’s that time of the week again. What time? Miniature Monday. For those of you who are new to the site Miniature Monday is a chance to start the week off right. That is, if your definition of right is to look at high-quality painted minis. When that isn’t the case and you enjoy the fantasy, gaming (pen and paper, tabletop, and even some video games), or genre appropriate films you may still have something to look at.

Are You Ready for a Holwing Goodtime?

Well, it looks like it’s time for another “feast your eyes on these” moments here on WT and this week we’re in for a real treat. 40K style (mostly). Need I say more? Maybe I do. Miniature Monday is a chance to see work from truly talented artists. Each mini is selected for its accuracy and attention to detail. That’s what I call the WoW effect. It stands for Works of WoW, for those of you who hate recursive acronyms this one will really bug you.

Why Saga: Curse of the Shadow Is a Better DnD Film

As of recently I have been reviewing some of the lesser known or respected fantasy films, namely the first two entries to the DnD franchise (which will be getting another Big Screen entry in 2022). Today I am going to be looking at “SAGA: Curse of the Shadow” and we will analyze why it is a better “Dungeons & Dragons” film. Be warned, however, if you are expecting a trashy B-Movie you will be disappointed.

Tides of War

When I started WT I had a pretty clear idea what I wanted the site to be about: miniatures, RPGs, war gaming, and the fantasy fandom. Basically, it was to be a site dedicated to all of the things which I enjoy. So in that context you can see this as a personal website. Though, I really don’t intend to get very personal. This has also been a long time coming.

Why Dungeons & Dragons 2 Is Worse Than You Remember

People remember the first “Dungeons & Dragons” film with little warmth. It left hardcore fans feeling ridiculed, and general movie going audience scratching their heads. While taken in the context for what it is, entertainment, there is enough content to appease those who entered theaters with low expectations. Sadly that was not enough to elicit a second outing. At least not if failed to offer more than the original. Did it?

Why Dungeons & Dragons the Film Is Better Than You Remember

Sword and sorcery films have a hard time in theaters, and unless their name happens to be “Lord of the Rings” they are almost guarantee to be both a commercial and critical failure. Since the original “Dungeons & Dragons” film will be celebrating its twentieth birthday on December 8th–I thought that it was high time for a re:view. And what I found may surprise you. Cast 7/10 Many people panned the film due to the cast, I disagree.

Kingdom: The Far Reaches

There is a difference when I say nostalgia and when my kids say nostalgia. For them nostalgia is reminiscing about “Gravity Falls” from their respective childhood. The series ran from 2012-2016 and for them that feels like a long time ago. My youngest even had nightmares after the first episode of season two aired. That said, for me the time frame is slightly different. That is why I can be nostalgic for “Kingdom: The Far Reaches” an entertaining adventure game from 1997.

Sitting Atop the Throne

For those among us who don’t (unfortunately) have a lot of time to invest in gaming we can always fall back to our phones when we have a minute or two of downtime. My downtime has recently been spent with “Throne: Kingdom at War” which is sort of like an RTS without so much of the RT but enough of the S to make it enjoyable for short spurts. I can’t tell you much about it, other than it is one of those endless fantasy games that keeps popping up in the App Store and it looked playable enough to peek my interest.
